Craig Laughlin and Joe Beninati Partner with 3 Steves Winery to Release “Broadcast Blanc,” a Limited Edition White Wine to Benefit The Laughlin Family Foundation

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, April 24, 2023 – Craig Laughlin and Joe Beninati partner with 3 Steves Winery to produce “Broadcast Blanc,” a limited edition white wine to benefit The Laughlin Family Foundation and their mission to help women affected by rare gynecologic cancers.

The wine, “Broadcast Blanc,” was personally blended by Craig (Locker) and Joe (Joe B) during a Capitals road trip to California in March 2023, and represents Chardonnay grapes from 3 vineyards in the Livermore Valley aged in both French and American oak barrels for 7 months.  The final blend of these 3 vineyards was accomplished during a visit to 3 Steves from Locker and Joe B along with help from winemakers Steve Ziganti and Alex Wolfe.

Limited quantities of bottles are available for purchase beginning on Monday April 24, 2023 starting at $45.00 per bottle plus shipping. All proceeds from the wine sales will support the Laughlin Family Foundation and rare gynecologic cancers. Wine can be purchased from 3 Steves Winery here and will also be available for purchase at select retailers throughout the DMV beginning in May 2023.

Let’s Bottle Up Cancer! Locker and Joe B are hosting the official “Broadcast Blanc” Wine Party on Friday May 19, 2023 from 7-11pm at Blackwall Barn and Lodge located at 329 Gambrills Rd, Gambrills, MD 21054. Attendees will be able to drink and purchase bottles of “Broadcast Blanc,” as well as last year’s red wine release, “Broadcast Blend.” Attendees will also have the opportunity to get their bottles personally signed by Locker and Joe B and other local sports celebrities,  including Alan May, Brent Johnson, Peter Bondra, John Walton, Harvey Grant, and more to be announced soon (list subject to change). One-of-a-kind live and silent auction items will be available including exclusive signed Washington Capitals sports memorabilia.  Tickets and sponsorships will go on sale on Monday April 24th, 2023 starting at $200 and can be purchased here. Proceeds from the event will benefit The Laughlin Family Foundation.

“We are so excited to partner with 3 Steves again this year, “said Laughlin. “We are honored to once again work with Steve, Alex, and the whole staff at 3 Steves and appreciate their support of our foundation and helping us in our mission to save the lives of women with rare gynecologic cancers.”

“As luck would have it, our timing was just right! With the Capitals in San Jose in early March, a quick trip to 3 Steves Winery allowed us to be a big part of the blending trials for Broadcast Blanc,” said Beninati.  “Steve Ziganti and Alex Wolfe gave us the ground rules and then turned us loose on a chemistry experiment.  We chose to mix three different expressions of chardonnay and our group came to the conclusion that what’s in the bottle today is going to be very enjoyable to drink.  This Broadcast Blanc has a wonderfully unique nose and a delicious touch of tropical fruit that will appeal to white-wine lovers.  Craig and I were thrilled that Steve and Alex and the team at 3 Steves gave us a voice in the final blend. We can’t wait to see how it all turned out in the bottle!”

This is the second year in a row that Locker and Joe B have partnered with 3 Steves to release a wine to help support The Laughlin Family Foundation. Last year, over 700 bottles of “Broadcast Blend” were sold, which commemorated the 25 seasons that the broadcasting duo had spent together in the booth. Limited quantities are still available for purchase here.

To date, The Laughlin Family Foundation has raised over $500,000 which has directly helped to support rare gynecologic cancer research, education, and awareness. Since it’s inception, the foundation has funded the first ever Endometrial Cancer Symposium at Johns Hopkins and research projects for Uterine Serous Carcinoma, a rare and deadly endometrial cancer.

3 Steves Winery, located in Livermore, California, was founded by 3 home winemakers all by the name of Steve (3Steve). Over the past 12 years they have built a following that has made them one of the premier producers in California’s first wine region, the Livermore Valley appellation. They have won numerous awards, including Best Red Wine of Show at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition for their Zinfandel. The winery is located at 5700 Greenville Road in Livermore, California, at the top of the hills with beautiful 360 degree views of the valley below.
