Why “Locker Strong?”

For those wishing to send Locker messages of cheer or support, please send mail to the following address:

The Laughlin Family Foundation Po Box 3308 1296 Cronson Blvd. Crofton MD 21114

In November of 2024, Craig Laughlin, current TV analyst for The Washington Capitals on Monumental SportsNetwork and former NHL player, was diagnosed with a bicuspid aortic valve, a congenital heart condition. Laughlin underwent open heart surgery in early February 2025 to repair his bicuspid valve, a blocked LAD, as well as an aortic aneurysm.

“Locker,” as known by Caps fans, along with his broadcast partner Joe Beninati, have been calling Capitals games together since the early 1990’s and are the longest tendered broadcasting duo in the NHL.

“LockerStrong” was inspired by the fans, and is not only a way to show support for Locker, but it’s a way to raise awareness for heart disease and help raise funds for the American Heart Association. Proceeds from all merch sales supports The American Heart Association.
