Swing for a Cure 2025: A Day of Strength, Community, and Record-Breaking Impact
This yearβs 5th Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament marked more than just another incredible day on the greens, it was the start of a new era for The Laughlin Family Foundation. With a refreshed name, logo, and professional brand identity, we proudly reintroduced the event as the Swing for a Cure Celebrity Golf Tournament, cementing its place as our premier fundraising event.
This rebrand reflects how far weβve come in just five years and how this tournament has helped us establish the Laughlin Family Foundation as a leader in raising funds and awareness for rare cancers.
And together, on September 8, 2025, we made history. With the generosity of our sponsors, the dedication of our volunteers, and the energy of every participant, we raised an unprecedented $300,000βour largest total for the event to date.
Why This Mission Matters
To date, this event has raised over $700,000, funding multiple endometrial cancer research grants at Johns Hopkins and The Foundation for Womenβs Cancer, as well as vital education and awareness projects.
This work is urgent: endometrial cancer is one of the only malignancies rising in both incidence and mortality, and it is projected to become the deadliest gynecologic cancer in the U.S. With limited funding and research, patients are often left with few treatment options and devastating outcomes. The Laughlin Family Foundation is on a mission to change that. At the heart of this mission is the spirit of being Linda Strongβfacing the hardest battles with resilience, hope, and a relentless commitment to creating change for women worldwide.
At the center of the Laughlin Family Foundation is Lindaβs story, a story of strength, courage, and resilience. To be Linda Strong means to face the hardest battles with hope, to uplift others, and to never stop pushing for progress. Every dollar raised and every moment of this event reflects that strength.
Powered by Community
Events like Swing for a Cure are proof of whatβs possible when community rallies for a cause. From celebrities and golfers to families and supporters, everyone showed up not just to play, but to stand behind the thousands of people impacted by rare cancers.
We are especially grateful to the Washington Capitals, who brought excitement and heart to the tournament, showing once again what it means to be true community champions. Thank you members of the coaching staff, alumni, management, and current players (Charlie Lindgren, Logan Thompson, John Carlson) for stepping up to the green and swinging for a cure with us. To our sponsors, thank you for investing in this mission and helping us take our work further than ever before. And to our incredible volunteersβyour time, hard work, and smiles created the foundation for this eventβs success.
Looking Ahead
This record-breaking year is not the finish lineβitβs fuel for whatβs next. The $300,000 raised will go directly toward advancing rare cancer research, creating awareness, and providing critical support to patients and families.
We are humbled, grateful, and inspired by everyone who made this yearβs tournament unforgettable. With your continued support, we know that together, we will keep driving change, funding hope, and standing strong in the fight against rare cancers.
Thank you for helping us make a difference. Thank you for being Linda Strong.
