Save the Dates: Two Signature Fundraising Events Powering Our Mission in 2026

At the Laughlin Family Foundation, we are excited to announce two signature fundraising events planned for 2026 that will play a critical role in advancing our mission to give rare cancers a voice. These events are more than dates on a calendar: they are powerful moments that fuel awareness, critical research fundraising, and help ensure that patients and their families facing rare cancers are seen, supported, and heard.

One of our goals over the next several years is to continue strengthening and growing our community. Our foundation is where we are today because of the supporters, volunteers, donors, and families who have trusted us with their stories and stood alongside us in this work. Thanks to their continued generosity and belief in our mission, these cornerstone events help drive the impact we make all year long.

The 6th Annual “Swing for a Cure” Celebrity Golf Tournament - Monday, August 31, 2026

This year, we are excited to host our 6th Annual Swing for a Cure Celebrity Golf Tournament, returning to Crofton Country Club in Crofton, Maryland. Over the years, this event has become a favorite within our community because it brings people together for a fun and meaningful day on the golf course all in support of rare cancer research. Golfers will be joined by celebrities from the Washington Capitals and other local sports figures, making it a truly special experience for everyone involved.

Following the tournament, guests are invited to stay for an evening dinner gala, where the day continues with good food, great company, and a shared sense of purpose. We will also host both a silent and live auction, giving attendees—and the broader public—the chance to bid on rare sports memorabilia, with all proceeds supporting the Foundation’s work. Every part of the day helps fund research, raise awareness, and support families affected by rare cancers. Whether you’re golfing, attending the dinner, bidding in the auction, or cheering us on, Swing for a Cure offers a meaningful way to be part of the fight against rare cancers. More information on sponsorships and tickets coming soon. The Marine Corps Marathon - Sunday, October 25, 2026

For the first time, the Laughlin Family Foundation is honored to participate as an official charity partner of the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM), one of the most iconic races in the world. Known as “The People’s Marathon,” the Marine Corps Marathon is celebrated for its impeccable organization and historic course through Arlington, VA, and the heart of our nation’s capital.

We chose to be part of this event because Washington, D.C. is not only a global stage, but also a center for healthcare, research, and policy. Being present in this setting allows us to expand our efforts to raise awareness for rare cancers, connect with new supporters and partners, and continue building a strong network dedicated to change.

As a charity partner, we are proud to join a global community of runners, supporters, and advocates who believe every mile can make a difference—helping us elevate patient stories, spark important conversations, and generate critical funding to support rare cancer research on a national level. As a first year partner, we are guaranteed 25 bib entries for the 51st MCM for those runners seeking entry into the race and those who wish to join us in our fight against rare cancers.
